Differences between Do follow and No follow Links for Onsite Optimization

How to Optimize Links On Your Websites for Search Engine Ranking

Browsing on internet is about following links from one site to another, either from a search engine or a website or blog or even an email that has landed in our mail box.
If a website has no incoming or outgoing link, we can say its a stagnant, isolated site that is impossible to access or reach, its like a galaxy far away from our milky which do exists but isn't yet discovered by anyone.

In order to rank well online, get more traffic and business a website must be able to attract people through various incoming links followed by interested people. Most commercial websites and blogs keep working on website optimization, keeping there onsite and offsite optimization efforts up to date and continuously adding and removing links that become relevant or loose relevancy over time.

The incoming and outgoing links can be classified into two types depending on whether they allow search engines to share a part of there authority/rank with the linked site or not. Sharing such authority will add value to the destination site and remove a bit of it from the source site. So, nobody actually wants to share and dilute there rank and authority with other sites. (Although there is a reason to do show, which can help in some cases.)

10 Differences in Links for Onsite Optimization

Onsite Do-follow No-follow Optimization Differences
1. Do follow-links help a search engine spider or bot to traverse the web from one site to another while no follow links do help these bots or spiders to move any further i.e. a no-follow link acts as a dead end for search engine spiders and bots and thus they are not able to add any new link to their database.

2. A do-follow makes it easier for the spiders to move to next site and get that site indexed in their database, helping a site to improve its search engine visibility.

3. Most common inbound-links that we frequently come across are usually no follow links, i.e. they do not link directly to other websites.

4. Getting a no follow-link is easier and convenient as most websites and forums use a outbound no follow strategy, for the links that they readily approve.

5. A do-follow isn't always easy to get. Most sites do not approve an outbound do-follow to any other site without a reason.

6. Although inbound do-follow do help a website to improve its ranking and authority, a no follow is not a total waste, even a no follow link can bring a lot of visitors or buyers which make sense.

7. When a site links to another website with a do follow, it actually shares its authority with that site which is also known as link juice flow.

8.In order to maintain the authority and ranking of a webpage it should limit its outbound do follow links to only a few relevant sites.

9. Most SEO agencies and internet marketing companies maintain a list of follow and no-follow websites and use them as per there linking strategy.

10. Most High traffic websites use a outbound nofollow strategy while some social media sites use a dofollow strategy. Most part of an off-page SEO involves getting back links to improve search engine ranking. Both do follow or no follow links, helps to improve website traffic, one leads only visitors while the other helps in a number of ways, most webmasters and online business try to get a do-follow-link but even a no follow isn't useless.

Right Way to Get Links To A Web Site

Search engine optimization is dependent on high quality links. Back links are links that start on another site and they point to your web page, which also means that you have very low control over them. Many web developers prefer to go into negotiations when it comes to link building, discussing different matters and aspects with the web masters of the other sites.

Inbound link building depends on the quality of the website or web page because people start linking to your website when you offer top notch, high quality content and a user friendly interface. Very good back links result from pages that deal with a corresponding topic or have related content. And the best ones include anchor text with your keywords and phrases. Inbound link building can be performed by other methods too.

Becoming listed in directories, publishing on blogs, forums and distributing articles to article directories are among the most common and popular ways of link building. Some web developers even go to the extent of applying inter-linking which consists of producing back links between sites owned by the same person or business. Link farms are a direct consequence of such link building approaches. Such methods are considered unacceptable for link building and you are better off to avoid them.

Before you actually start link building, you need to identify the places which can offer you high quality inbound links. There are even back link building tools that you can use for this purpose. The websites that you find with these kinds of programs are in need of content material, and in exchange, they will supply you with what you need: links. The main objective of the back linking technique is the increase of sales deriving from targeted traffic. You win a lot if you know how to take advantage of such opportunities!

Yahoo and DMOZ are website directories you should get indexed in. The main advantage here, is not just the fact of obtaining great back links, but the possibility of reaching potential site visitors by getting a higher search engine ranking. It takes a little while to get indexed in these website directories, specifically when you are keen on certain categories. Building links works a lot more quickly with article directories, forums, blogs and social networks.

Inbound link building is very beneficial in forums because they are listed well by search engines. Make certain you follow the forum policy so that you don't have your posts deleted. As long as you are relevant for the subject or the discussion in the forum, you can incorporate links to your website, and improve your link building.

How To Use Domain Names, URLs for Mastering SEO

Knowing the basic techniques for Search Engine Optimization is important, however, there is so much more than the obvious and direct. That's why it's important to hire a professional SEO Consultant, as there is much more to SEO than many people think. It's important that you optimize your entire website, down to the URL and domain name, as well as the smallest details in order to get the highest rating and most traffic.

Of course a website that is not accessible or has pages that are not accessible will not get a very good ranking. A website can become inaccessible if it has broken links or has areas that have password protection, or any number of other issues that can cause this problem. This makes the website impossible to index by web crawlers. Along with inaccessibility comes downtime. This is when the hosting of your website isn't reliable and is often down. As web crawlers come to your website once every one or two months, and visit when the website is down, then it cannot be indexed and your rank will either drop or website disappear altogether. An unreliable provider will have no less than 2-3% downtime.

A sitemap is a page that simply shows the structure of your entire website. It includes a link to each webpage as well as any outside links. It's well organized to make it easier for searchers to quickly find what they need. Another reason that a website would be necessary is because web crawlers love them, they help them with the indexing and flowing through the different pages of your website, hence, improving your ranking. By having a large website you can also attract more information. The bigger the website the more the web crawlers like it. However, it's not always the same with the searchers. Some large websites are very difficult to navigate through and you can easily get lost and disoriented in the website. Sometimes it's better to break one very large website into a couple of smaller websites. You just have to weigh out the importance of keeping searchers interest when they finally reach your website and the importance of being higher on the ranking. Plus, you can always compensate the ranking with something else.

Many rankings are based on the age of a website. This is basically due to the belief that if a website has been around for a longer time, it is trusted and more reliable. An old website has more of a chance to stay online much longer due to its track record, while a newer website may close quickly, depending on who is running it. It's just not as reliable. Another way to keep the attention of web crawlers is through a theme. It's a great way to improve your ranking. By having a whole website with the same theme all of the web pages will get a boost in rank.

Domain names also play a major role in a website. Keep in mind that it's much better to have a separate domain name rather than a sub domain. If your website has a sub domain, register a separate one. This will make it easier for web crawlers to find and index your website. The type of domain name is also important as there are different levels. The best of course to have is the .edu, .org, or .gov domain names. They attract the most attention. Next are the .com and .net, and lastly the .ws, .biz. and .info among others.

The way you structure your websites URL also make a difference in the ranking of a website. By using hyphens in between words in the URL the website becomes more readable. This is important both in the domain name as well as the rest of the URL. Having a readable website mans higher rankings. The length of the URL plays a role as well. It's not as important however, having too long of a URL looks suspicious and may be written off as spam. A good rule of thumb is no more than 10 words total. Approximately no more than 3-4 words for the domain and 6-7 words for the rest of the URL in order to keep it within reason.

Dynamic URL's are basically when a page is only a template, which brings up different type of information depending on what the searcher clicked or wrote within the webpage. It's basically database driven and runs a script. These are not really good because the URL itself is really long, it's especially bad if it's over 100 characters. It's best to have a Static URL which is basically a simple webpage, the contents stay the same, and therefore the URL is always the same. There are tools that you can use to rewrite a dynamic URL to be more appealing to both humans and web crawlers.

A session ID is created to track visitors in a website. It is given to everyone that goes into the website. However, one cannot be given to a web crawler, making the website impossible to index. So, if plan on getting your website ranked, do not add session ID's to them. Another way to avoid getting a low ranking if any at all is by not putting roots.txt bans. These bans are used to ban bots for certain parts of a website. These bots include spam bots that search for emails as well as other bots that can harm your website as well as gather personal information. However, unfortunately it also protects your website from web crawlers that are also considered bots. This means that parts of your website won't get indexed, this becomes an issue because if a part of a website is banned for a web crawler it visits the website less and less.

Redirects are web pages that when you click on the link you are automatically redirected to another website or webpage. There are several issues with this, one being that it's possible that the redirect page doesn't work, however, the biggest problem is that it looks like cloaking, which is a black hat technique. This can get your ranking lowered and possibly removed off of the search engine.

Unless you are well educated in the building of websites and how they work it's not best to take Search Engine Optimization into your own hands, instead hire an SEO Consultant. There are many things that you need to think about when making your website and many of them involve technical aspects that are difficult for someone untrained in this field. Review the different points of your website to determine which needs to be changed if necessary.
